AccountGo is an offline accounting app. Your books — your customers, suppliers,
invoices, quotes, statements, banking details and every figure in your ledger — are
stored on your own device and nowhere else. We cannot see them. We have no server
holding them, no cloud account, and no copy of them.
The only information that ever leaves your device is what is needed to sell you the
app and to recognise that you have bought it. That is described in full below.

What Stays on Your Device
Everything you capture in AccountGo is written to a database file on your own phone,
tablet or computer:
Your company details, logo and settings
Customers and suppliers, including their contact and banking details
Quotes, invoices, credit notes, purchase orders, goods received vouchers and returns
Receipts, payments, cashbook entries and bank reconciliations
Stock items, quantities and costs
Your general ledger, journals and every report built from them
None of this is transmitted to us or to anyone else. It is not backed up to a cloud
service by the app. If you make a backup and email it to yourself, or export a report
and share it, that is your action and your data travels only where you send it.
This also means the backups are your responsibility. If you lose the device and
have no backup, we cannot recover your books, because we never had them.

What leaves your device, and only then
If you buy the unlock

AccountGo is free for 30 days, after which a once-off payment unlocks it permanently.
Payment is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never
see or receive your card details, and we never store them.
To check whether a device has been unlocked, and to let you restore a purchase on a
new phone, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-verification service that acts as
our processor. What it receives:
Purchase history — which product was bought, when, and whether it is still valid
A pseudonymous app user ID generated by RevenueCat, and a store or device
identifier, so a purchase can be matched to a device
Basic technical information — platform, app version, device model, country
That is the entire list. It does not include your name, your email address, your
business's name, or anything at all from your books.
We use this only to confirm that a copy is unlocked and to restore purchases. It is
not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not combined with anything else.

If you contact us for support
If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send — your email address, your
message, and any screenshot or backup file you attach so we can help. We use it to
answer you and for nothing else.
If you send us a backup file to investigate a problem, it contains your books. We
will tell you if we need one, we use it only to reproduce the problem you reported,
and we delete it once the matter is closed.

 

Our website
accountgo.online is hosted on Wix, which sets cookies needed to run the site and
records basic visitor statistics such as pages viewed and approximate location. That
is standard website analytics and is not connected to anything in the app. If you buy
the desktop version through the website, your payment is handled by the payment
provider shown at checkout; we receive the order details, not your card number.

www.accountgo.online is hosted on Wix and uses standard hosting and analytics cookies. The site also carries the Google tag, which tells Google Analytics and Google Ads that a visit happened, which pages were looked at, and whether a visit led to a purchase. We use that to see which of our adverts are worth paying for, and it allows Google to show AccountGo adverts to people who have been to the site before. It tells us nothing about your accounting, because your books are never on the website in the first place. You can switch off personalised Google advertising for your own Google account at myadcenter.google.com. This applies to the website only. The app itself still collects nothing.

 

What we never do
We do not sell your information, or share it with data brokers
We do not show advertising, and there is no advertising SDK in the app
We do not track you across other apps or websites
We do not build marketing profiles from your financial data
We do not require an account, a login, or an email address to use the app
We do not collect analytics from inside the app. There is no crash reporting or
usage tracking in it. The only component that connects to the internet is the
purchase check described above.

 

Legal basis for processing
Where the law requires us to state a basis: purchase verification is processed
because it is necessary to perform our contract with you — you have bought a
licence and we have to be able to recognise it. Support correspondence is processed
on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us.
Website statistics are processed on the basis of consent, which you may withdraw
through the cookie controls on the site.

 

How long it is kept
What  :  How long
Your books  :  On your device, for as long as you keep them. Under your control, not ours.
Purchase records  :  Held by RevenueCat and by Apple or Google for as long as the licence is valid, and afterwards as long as their own records require — a purchase is permanent, so this does not expire.
Support emails  :  Up to 24 months after the matter is closed, so we can pick up a thread if the same problem recurs.
Backup files you send us  :  Deleted once the problem is resolved.
Website statistics  :  As retained by Wix under their own retention schedule.

 

Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa, and under
equivalent laws elsewhere including the GDPR if you are in the European Union, you
may ask us to:
Tell you what information we hold about you
Correct anything that is wrong
Delete what we hold, where we are not required to keep it
Object to processing, or ask us to restrict it
Receive a copy in a portable format
Email kate@accountgo.online and we will respond within a reasonable period, and in
any event within the time the applicable law allows.
To delete the books themselves, uninstall the app, or restore over them. That
removes the database from the device. We cannot do this for you, because we have no
copy. Purchase records held by Apple or Google are subject to their own policies and
their own deletion procedures.
If you believe we have handled your information improperly, you may complain to the
Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg@justice.gov.za, or to your own data
protection authority.

Transfers outside South Africa
RevenueCat, Apple and Google process purchase information on servers outside South
Africa, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers
are covered by the contractual protections those providers offer, and the information
transferred is limited to the purchase details listed above.

 

Children
AccountGo is a business accounting tool and is not directed at children. We do not
knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child
has sent us information, write to us and we will remove it.

 

Security
Purchase information travels over encrypted connections. Your books are protected by
your device's own security — its passcode, its encryption and its backups. We would
encourage you to keep a passcode on any device that holds your accounting records,
and to keep your backups somewhere safe.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot promise
absolute security. What we can tell you is how little we hold: essentially nothing
beyond the fact that a purchase happened.

 

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will post the new version here and update the date at the
top. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will say so
prominently rather than expect you to notice.
